Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he could not remember "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
After the tragedy, public personalities offered divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making provocative claims that were widely condemned by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide ought to have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the death was made.
