Almost 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the rains, with their belongings and dwellings ruined.

Persistent precipitation over the recent period have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the territory, as reported by aid organizations.

"Horrendous" Night Poses Severe Dangers

A spokesman characterized the previous night's conditions as "awful", with rain so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was truly difficult for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gales were so forceful," noted the spokesperson.

There is significant anxiety that minors residing in makeshift shelters in soaked garments will fall victim to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Deaths and Extensive Loss

The health ministry have reported that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the storms.

Further statements indicate a higher fatality count. Officials said that numerous structures had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters inundated.
  • Countless residents compelled to find new shelter.

Aid Operations Considered Inadequate

Groups have stepped up deliveries of tents, bedding and clothing since the halt in hostilities commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to deliver that assistance and to hand it out, but the size of the needs is so enormous that we continue to see thousands of people and minors who are genuinely struggling each evening," warned one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Ceasefire Plans

The next stage of the ceasefire includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of personnel, and other provisions.

Humanitarian organizations have underscored the necessity for "increased and sustained aid to address immediate and long-term requirements."

The hostilities was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Later actions have resulted in a high number of casualties in the territory, as per health ministry figures.
