'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Missing Teens Await Information After Ski Resort Fire

The relatives of teens missing after a deadly inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and pleading for information about their loved ones online.

The fire engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated video show the roof structure igniting as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the fire, which killed 40 people and injured another over a hundred. Authorities said on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been taking to online platforms to request information about their loved ones who were present at the venue that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. It's terrible," she stated.

She explained that some of his friends had been located with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's government has indicated that a number of of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, as stated by.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is dead, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"Someone with him informed me they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers stated, "I remember his good nature and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. Often ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her brother has shared an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.
